Speech & Language Disorders We Treat

Articulation Disorders

Articulation disorders occur when a child has difficulty producing certain speech sounds correctly, making their speech hard to understand. Children may substitute, omit, distort, or add sounds when speaking. Therapy focuses on helping children learn and consistently use correct speech sound production.

Get started

Delayed Language Development

Children with language delays may develop communication skills more slowly than expected for their age. They may have difficulty understanding language, using words, combining words into sentences, or communicating their wants and needs. Early intervention can help children build strong communication foundations.

Get started

Expressive Language Disorders

Expressive language refers to how we use words and language to communicate our thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Children with expressive language difficulties may have trouble finding the right words, forming sentences, answering questions, or telling stories. Therapy helps strengthen vocabulary, sentence structure, and overall communication skills.

Get started

Receptive Language Disorders

Receptive language refers to understanding spoken language. Children with receptive language difficulties may struggle to follow directions, answer questions, understand new concepts, or process verbal information. Therapy focuses on improving comprehension and language processing skills.

Get started

Social Communication (Pragmatic Language)

Social communication involves using language appropriately in social situations. Children may have difficulty starting conversations, taking turns in conversation, understanding nonverbal cues, staying on topic, or building relationships with peers. Therapy helps develop the skills needed for meaningful and successful social interactions.

Get started

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Many children with autism benefit from speech and language therapy to strengthen communication skills. Therapy may focus on verbal communication, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), social communication, conversation skills, understanding social cues, and increasing functional communication across everyday settings. We provide individualized support tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my child needs an evaluation?

Common signs include difficulty being understood, delayed talking, trouble following directions, challenges expressing thoughts, stuttering, social communication difficulties, feeding concerns, or frustration when communicating. You do not need a referral to seek answers. Early evaluation can provide peace of mind and guidance, whether therapy is recommended or not.
